Welcome to Recyke y’bike! We are a charity in North East England that specialises in refurbishing donated bikes and selling them at affordable prices to fund our charitable objectives. To learn more about our charitable objectives please visit our About Us page.
**Covid -19 update**
Our Durham shop is currently closed to the public except on Saturdays when repairs and servicing can be dropped off or picked up. We are accepting bike donations but we are not selling bikes at the Durham location at this time.
Byker is closed for one week from the 6th to the 11th July to enable us to focus on producing free bikes for people on our referral list.
We’re operating limited opening hours at Byker. Repairs, servicing and donations can be dropped off Wednesdays to Saturdays 12-2. Due to issues with supply we’re not currently selling parts. Bike sales are by appointment only. Appointments open each Friday at 8am for the week ahead, please leave a message on our answer machine with your details. We are doing our best to meet the current demand, but unlike bike shops that offer new bikes we can’t order more stock. All of our bikes are donated and then fully refurbished, a process which takes time. We appreciate your patience.
To save time when you are at the shop, many of our bikes are available to view online on our Facebook shop for you to view prior to your visit.
If you’re collecting a repair or dropping off a donation, you can come anytime within the hours on our Facebook page, no appointment needed. Please follow social distancing guidelines.
Key Workers can currently get their bikes serviced or repaired free of charge at both shops. Just show ID.
We understand that this is a difficult time for many, but if you’re in the position to make a financial donation you can do so at the button below.
Thank you again for your patience, and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Our Durham shop has a great selection of bikes, perfect for the city commuter and the student alike. Our bikes undergo rigorous testing and maintenance before being sold on to you, so you know you’re getting a great bike at a great value. If you’re student or member of staff at Durham University, just show your ID to get a £10 safety check on your bike ABSOLUTELY FREE!!
Every once in a while, we are given something really special, such as Campagnolo parts or carbon racing frames. When this happens, we usually put the items on eBay. That way, bike enthusiasts across the UK can support our cause and get the specialist parts or unique second hand bikes they want.
Check out our eBay shop here and see if you can resist the temptation!
