The BBC One Show: Gift a Bike for Christmas by far exceeded our expectations and left us with with plenty of bikes to be repaired in 2023!
Here are some of the best things that came out of it:
- 40 bikes were refurbished and redistributed through the West End Food Bank
- More than 80 more bikes were donated and are now waiting to be refurbished, scrapped, redistributed! We need new volunteers!
- A kind person has volunteered to pick up donated bikes from his neighbouring area and bring them to Byker. This collaboration will go on in the new year, and if anyone else feels inspired to do the same, we are always on the lookout for volunteers who can pick up bikes for us. - We discovered that a hidden talent hid among us! James was fantastic on TV, and you can hear him talking about the benefits of cycling here.
